6 Secrets To Productivity
To finish my post from last time, I will continue on how to be productive. Now there are many ways to be productive, but the 6 secrets I will share are what help me! Remember that I too am starting my own business and am always learning.
Now this may sound silly or like common sense, but it's the truth. We don't always know what we are doing in our businesses; and we may not even know how to perform a certain service we offer, but we have to be confident at all times. I did this by getting a job specifically in what I wanted to do (Marketing). Through that job I gained the confidence to perform the services I offer. Next, I became confident that I could find the answer to my problems. Once you are confident, everything else is easy.
Do Something You Love
This is a no brainer! If you aren't passionate about what you do, then it WILL fail. I have tried to start plenty of businesses that I wasn't passionate about, and they all failed fast! Once you find your passion, run with it. Learn all you can and become an expert in that field.
Keep A TO-DO List
I have been told this since day one, but I didn't start it until a few weeks ago. Some of us are very good at remembering things, but with a business there is too much to remember. I use Evernote with my clients to create a TO-DO list between us. We write what in there what we have to do, and from that we can see what we need to do for each specific client. Both of us can make changes and mark off tasks as we go. Since I have started, I haven't missed a thing!
A leader of mine once said "You only have enough time to do what you want to do." This has never been more true until now! If you really want to have a successful business, you will have to make time for it. You will have to work weekends and on vacations, but it will all be worth it.
Give Accounts To Someone
Having a list and making time are great, but they don't work if you don't report to someone. I report individually to every client. I write them a report based off of my work. This makes me do a good job, and get it done on time. This principle will help you keep the customers you have and hold you responsible for all of your work. This can also be used with employees. Make them responsible for what they do and you will see their results increase.
Drop The Distractions
Going back to my last post. Phones are the biggest distractions. All the time we waste on Facebook or games, can be used to help grow our business. Find ways to remove distractions and get working.
